This is a flexible 8-hour private tour, which allows you to join for as long as you would like. Unless prearranged, though, the tour guide will meet you at your hotel at 9am to drive to the first stop: Pueblito Paisa.

Situated at the top of Nutibarra Hill, Pueblito Paisa is a replica of a typical Colombian village at the turn of the century, complete with traditional a stone fountain, a church, a barber shop, and a school house. You will have an hour or so to stroll around — there are some great views of the Medellín valley — or to grab a snack or two.

The next stop on the tour is Parque de Los Pies Descalzos, or Barefoot Park, where you can kick off your shoes and wade through the various shallow water pools. From here, you will visit the Parque de las Luces (Park of Lights), and Plaza Botero, where 23 bronze sculptures by Colombian artist Fernando Botero are on permanent display.

Snacks and food samples are included in the price of the tour, and if you start to feel hungry just let your guide know so they can steer you in the direction of a tasty traditional lunch or dinner at one of Medellín's must-try restaurants. The tour will break for one hour for lunch (not included).

In the afternoon, the focus of the tour shifts to local history on the Colombian drug lord Pablo Escobar. You guide takes you to four locations significant to the late Escobar, including the barrio where he grew up; his Monaco Building that was bombed by a rival cartel in 1988; the house where he was shot dead by Colombian Special Forces in 1993; and his grave in Cemetario Jardins Montesacro. His former mentor, Griselda Blanco (aka 'The Black Widow') is also buried here.

After the tour, your guide can either take you back to your hotel or another location of your choice.
